- Megger test armature, field coils, interpoles and brush rigging
- Test run
- Disassembly
- Bar-to-bar test – armature
- Drop-test fields
- Drop-test interpoles
- Check all mechanical fits, repair as needed
- Bearing Housings
- Shaft Journals
- Shaft Runout
- Steam clean and bake all parts
- Turn and undercut commutator (if needed)
- Balance armature
- Replace leads, if needed
- Re-insulate armature and field coils (if needed)
- Paint interior parts
- Replace ball/roller bearings
- Replace brushes (if needed)
- Reassembly
- Final test
- Paint
